U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Regulatory
On April 22, 2022, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy authorized Venture Global CP2 LNG, LLC to export up to 1,446 billion cubic feet (Bcf) per year of domestically produced liquefied natural gas from its Cameron Parish, Louisiana export facility to free trade agreement (FTA) countries. Approval of CP2 LNG’s request to export LNG to non-FTA countries is still pending.
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
On January 21, 2021, CP2 LNG and Venture Global CP Express submitted a pre-filling request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The FERC accepted the request on February 17, 2021, setting in motion the environmental review process. Through the environmental review process, the FERC issued the Final Environmental Impact Statement on July 28, 2023. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued its order authorizing CP2 LNG in June 2024. However, construction of the CP2 LNG will be subject to ongoing oversight and needed additional authorizations by FERC in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CP2 LNG FERC order. CP2 LNG and CP Express were assigned docket numbers CP22-21-000 and CP22-22-000, and filings can be found and read in full at the FERC’s website.

The project team hosted three virtual open houses on April 6, 7 and 8, 2021 and hosted 3 in-person open houses on February 7, 8 and 9 2023. The project team also participated in three FERC-led public outreach sessions held via telephone on May 11, 12, and 13, 2021 and in person on March 1 and 2, 2023.
